Kendall is one of the many great communities that people can find within the Miami-Dade County area of South Florida. It was once known as Rockdale but was renamed in honor of Henry John Broughton Kendall who moved into the area during the 1900s and acted as the managing director of Florida Land and Mortgage Company who had purchased the land in 1883.
The history of Kendall depicts a relatively slow development up until the 20th century but things have changed since as more investors and developers are coming stepping into the community in order to cater to the demand for residential and commercial real estate properties within the Kendall area.
Kendall is located south of Doral and is easily accessible to areas such as Downtown Miami, Coral Gables, and the Miami International Airport. Residents of the Kendall community consider neighborhoods such as The Hammocks, The Crossings, Kendale Lakes, Kendall West, and Country Walk to be included in their community despite being located past the western boundary of the boundaries defined by the US Census.
The interesting thing about living in Kendall is that its location and elevation along the Miami Rock Ridge makes its climate somewhat different from most of the Miami communities because it is a bit cooler during winter evenings and a bit warmer during summer days.
